Anomaly 2 tests your Android with… a benchmarking app?

Yep, apparently 11 bit studios’ tower-defense follow-up is a bit of a mobile monster. So much so that a benchmark app has been released that’ll tell the developer just how powerful the Android handsets out there are so they can ensure appropriate levels of awesomeness.

11 bit wants to make the experience on mobiles as close to the PC release of Anomaly 2 as possible, hence the benchmarking app. The developer thinks of the game as a “AAA mobile game” and they’re treating it as such- which is plainly good news for gamers and fans of the original.

11 bit studios is excited to announce a new, groundbreaking step in Android gaming. We’re aiming to go where no Android developer has gone before: to deliver PC-quality graphics to Android devices. Given the quality of the visuals and the overall presentation, we believe that Anomaly 2 truly represents a “AAA” mobile game. The game is well optimized for some of the most powerful devices, but there many of them on the market, utilizing different GPUs and drivers, and it’s hard to gather data for all of these variations. Thus we’re going to deliver the Anomaly 2 Benchmark to invite the Android community to take this next step in Android gaming with us.

Anomaly 2 is available now for PC, Mac and Linux (and it’s actually on sale too) and will be up on iOS, Blackberry and Android devices this Fall. As for that benchmarking app, it’s available right now. Grab it here and test your machine’s might.
