Dead Island Riptide gets official

Deep Silver revealed a solid release date for the tropical zombie follow-up along with a Special Edition of the game that’s available for pre-order now.

The regular old vanilla version of the game has been up for the pre-treatment for a while now (remember that cool steelbook?), but now the publisher has opened up about the Special Edition of the game. The newly announced edition will give aspiring undead bashers a little extra to, well, bash with- and look good doing it!

A special pack of weapon mods will be included in the box, along with a digital strategy map (which I’m assuming might be a ‘map app’ kind of thing) and a unique (to the pack) character skin. Of course, as with all limited editions this one’s first-come-first-served and once it’s out of print, that’s it.

As for that release date- Dead Island Riptide will be available for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on April 23rd 2013 (ahh springtime…). Personally, I’m really looking forward to it, the original DI was one of our favorite games of 2011, and I can’t wait to see what developer Techland comes up with for Riptide.
