If you’re looking for FPS action this month, you’re in luck. Sony’s PlayStation Plus, subscriber freebies include Battlefront II and WWII.
First-person shootin’ is the theme for PlayStation Plus’ excellent June lineup, which has a pair of titles that should make genre fans happy.
Star Wars Battlefront II starts things off, a game that was received much better than its predecessor at launch, and has improved since. That initial reception is likely because, unlike the series-rebooting BF1, Battlefront II actually had a story mode. It might not be the deepest of things, but the story, which followed an Imperial pilot through the original trilogy and into the sequels, was very welcome indeed. Remember, these were the days pre-Fallen Order. Single player Star Wars wasn’t easy to come by.
As for the multiplayer, well you know what to expect there. Big battles in the Star Wars universe are the star, with plenty of characters to play as and vehicles to pilot.
As for Call of Duty: World War II, that’s a fairly similar story. Featuring a solid campaign, WWII won’t blow you away with its story, even though it’s a fun play-through. It’s multiplayer mode though, should scratch the itch for CoD-adherents looking to get back into action.
Both games are free for PS+ subscribers through July 6th. WWII is available right now, with Battlefront II hitting free status tomorrow.

Call of Duty: World War II
It’s a return to the past in more ways than one as Call of Duty once more reimagines the theater of war that first inspired the blockbuster franchise. In the game’s riveting campaign, play a vital, frontline role across Europe in multiple missions directly inspired by key moments from the real world conflict. Switch over to multiplayer to battle it out alongside — and against — other players.
