NYCC 2017: Toys R Us to offer Teen Titans “Retro” Starfire Vinimate

Toys R Us is set to have a few nice exclusives at New York Comic Con. That’s including a Teen Titans Retro Starfire Vinimate from DST.

DC Vinimates get exclusives

DC Comics has been making a pretty big comeback at DST. The collectible company used to regularly produce a line of DC-branded Minimates, in case you don’t remember. At this point however, that line is almost totally Marvel-based, though there are pretty regular indie ‘Mates produced as well. The Vinimate line though, is new.

Vinimates are more or less non-posable versions of Minimates. They’re larger and more stylized too, so they’re kind of statuettes more than figures. And NYCC 2017 will have a pretty cool exclusive figure in the form of Starfire.

The longtime Teen Titan will be featured at Toys R Us’ booth (#110) on the show floor, and joins the rest of what’s the first wave of the statuettes. That series also contains Batman, Green Lantern, and Harley Quinn. Starfire is not directly based on her comic book appearance though, unlike the rest of the series.

I say “directly” because even though she’s based on the Teen Titans Go version of the character, she’s also kinda not.

Teen Titans member Starfire will be the first DC Vinimate available at Toys“R”Us. Based on her retro appearance in the episode “Baby Hands” and inspired by her classic comic book appearance, the big-haired figure stands 4-inches tall and strikes a pose straight from the movie! Packaged in a full-color window box, the figure will be available for purchase at Toys“R”Us booth #110 at New York Comic Con and Toysrus.com/NYComicConvention from Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8.

Teen Titans are GO

Starfire might be the first Teen Titans Go figure, but she won’t be the last. DST also has Blackfire hitting this fall, and wave 2 will have Nibor (the evil Robin) in early 2018.
