Sega reveals Sonic Boom trailer

Incase you missed it, Sega‘s third exclusive Sonic title for the Wii U and 3DS has at last been announced. The title of this game is Sonic Boom.

Right off the bat there are some very curious things to take note of in this trailer and the screenshots of this new game. The first thing you’ll notice is some rather different character models. The characters are wearing some odd apparel, and look kind of different. They’re taller, Knuckles is more muscular, and Sonic has blue arms. The designs appear to be more like that which you’d see in a Sonic Riders game. The ones you see in the trailer are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy. No word yet on who else will appear besides Dr. Robotnik, but these four are the only playable characters.

One part of the footage looked like Sonic Heroes, with 3 of the characters running in unison. Others looked like sonic Adventure, with various members of the Sonic team performing unique actions, such as Tails firing a laser gun. Another interesting thing to note is that developers of Naughty Dog games for the PS1 are working on this title. It explains why there appears to be a familiar look in the environments and theme of Sonic Boom. The graphics look very good, with some very nice use of shaders and lighting, as well detailed textures. No firm release date has been set, but Sega is usually very timely with its releases, so we should expect to see this game in stores soon.
