Ripping onto consoles and PC is a limited-time demo for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. Just be quick, as this one’s limited.
Space Marine (2) is go for demo launch
Last year’s excellent action title Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is back, in demo form. The sequel, which features Games Workshop’s grim far-future, has just had a free trial dropped onto consoles and the PC, courtesy of Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive. The demo sounds shockingly deep too, with “bite-size” samplings of all of the game’s offerings.
Those who download will be able to engage with the intro and first mission of the campaign, and also some multiplayer (though you’ll need PS Plus to play that on the PS5). In with the campaign portions are three Operations, and almost all of the Eternal War modes. The only things that’s not included is the new Hellbrute Onslaught. Still, that’s quite a bit, and impressive for a demo.
As we mentioned though, all of this action is very limited in terms of time. The demo will only be playable from today (October 16th, 2025) through October 20th on the Xbox Series X|S and PS5. PC players get a little extra time with it, as the Steam version closes out on the 23rd.
Worth noting as well, is that the full retail edition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is on sale right now. Those who want to buy in, can do so for up to 50% off, depending on the platform.
A Discord mission?
Yes, on top of the demo, there’s also some new content for players to get out there and grab. And, also yes, it involves Discord. The event is taking place during the demo’s time period (so it’ll end on the 23rd), and requires players to link their Discord, PROS and Steam accounts.
Doing so will net fans the “exclusive Bolt Rifle skin from the Porphyr Shield set”. While you’re at it, it’s also worth pointing out that said players can feel free to exchange “ideas and feedback” via the game’s community forums.
Warhammer 40,000’s far-future returns
Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a direct followup to the original. As such, players take command of Lieutenant Titus, with a tale that follows the Imperial Space Marine through a path of redemption.
That’s just the campaign though, and the full game offers so much more. Multiplayer fans can dig into multiplayer, plus a set of co-op campaign side-stories. And on top of all of that, there’s also a mighty dose of customization that can be done. Oh, and we can’t forget the cavalcade of both paid and free DLC that’s seen launch in the months since the game arrived.
The title’s only gotten better since it first hit retail, though released to high marks, including from us. In our review of the game, we noted that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 upped the ante for shooters.
Tagging it with a 97%, we said:
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a long-awaited and thankfully top notch return for one of the more popular 40K games. The title features an incredible campaign, filled with huge moments and a surprisingly deep story that features all kinds of fun nods to 40K lore. All of that is framed by excellent graphics and sound as well, with a great cast that carries their assigned super-heroic characters well. Add in the terrific multiplayer modes, and you have a Warhammer 40K experience that you won’t want to put down for a good long while.
