First-person Lovecraftian action title Beneath unleashes PC demo, also coming to consoles

A demo’s bubbled up from the depths, along with a console reveal. With a PC demo out now, Beneath is heading to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Submerged hell

Those looking to experience the action of Beneath, can get in on a limited time demo that’s out now on PC. Spinning out of Wired Productions and developer Camel 101, the title submerges players into the role of a “seasoned diver” named Noah Quinn. But as much training as Quinn has, it’s likely not enough, as he finds himself trapped under the waves, and face to face with the horrors that lurk there.

Every shot will count in Beneath, as the game presents players with limited resources. As such, stealth will be a very viable option, and trying to sneak your way past the Cthulian terrors of the deep will absolutely be in play. That’s just one option though, as Wired Productions says that players will be able to take the battle to their slimy foes as well in “adrenaline-pumping battles”.

And boy can you see that on display in the latest trailer, dubbed “blood and guts”.

“We grew up playing games like F.E.A.R. on the PS3,” said Bruno and Ricardo Cesteiro, the brotherly duo behind studio Camel 101. “That blend of tight gunplay and supernatural suspense made a huge impact on us. With Beneath, we wanted to create a full-length, narrative-first game that recaptures that feeling – no online mode, no microtransactions. Just you, your instincts, and a lot of ammo.”

Beneath promises a Lovecraftian voyage into first-person survival horror, blending pulse-pounding action, psychological tension, and atmospheric storytelling into an unforgettable experience. Follow seasoned diver Noah Quinn as his routine expedition spirals into chaos, trapping him deep beneath the ocean’s surface alongside an ancient malevolence. With supplies dwindling and nightmarish creatures closing in, Noah must confront grotesque mutations, encroaching madness, and a sinister conspiracy that threatens humanity itself.

Wired Productions press release

Beneath is set to release on the PC some time this year, but you can play some of it right now. That early look comes by way of a timed-demo for Steam, which is ready for play now through August 4th. But remember, there’s a part two to today’s news, that the game is coming to more than just the PC.

Oozing onto consoles

As you can see above, it’s not just PC players that’ll be able to tackle Beneath’s monstrosities. Along with the aforementioned demo, Wired Productions has revealed that the horror shooter is also set to make its way to current-gen consoles.

Like with the PC edition, there’s no word on exactly when that might be, but we do know it’ll be heading to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The platforms will have an edition that was built “with console players in mind”, according to Wired, and will run in 4K with 60fps.

Also according to the press release, genre fans can expect the PS5 edition to support “immersive haptic feedback, adaptive trigger support”. PS5 Pro players will get a little extra boost on top too, with “enhanced visuals using PSSR”.
