The life of a Dwarf is a hard one in the realm of high-fantasy, but it’s also a pretty great-looking one if Return to Nangrim is anything to go by.
Delved too greedily
If you’re a high-fantasy fan, and have an affinity for the Dwarven races, then you might want to check out Return to Nangrim. From developer/publisher Sycoforge, the game has snuck under our radar, but thanks to Gamescom, we’re glad to bring it to you.
Here’s a look at the gameplay:
Return to Nangrim is a dark first-person fantasy adventure with exploration, puzzle, RPG, and survival elements embedded in an epic dwarven lore. Players will gather resources to forge weapons and tools to survive in the dark, abandoned depth of the mountains. To progress in the game the players must interact with the environment and prove strength, wits, observation skills, and the ability to piece together the story and culture of a long-forgotten nation. Go on an adventure and unveil the mysteries and legends woven around the Stonebeards, the once glorious and powerful dwarven family living in the northern Nimbor Mountains.

Like the looks of that? Want to play it? Well, you can, and right now too. The game is being showcased at the Gamescom show, which is going on right now, and has a special demo that you can download and play on the PC.
There’s a trick to it though, in that it’s only playable during the event. So if you want to dig in, and do a little exploration, you might want to be quick about it. Check it out here.
“We’re so excited to be sharing this playable teaser with players,” said Michela Rimensberger, CEO at Sycoforge. “This playable teaser is the first public build to be available since GDC 2019 when the core focus of the game was still on a VR walking simulator with puzzle elements. We’ve come a long way and we are thrilled to now give players the chance to experience for themselves how far the game has come and to dive into the depths of the ancient mountain city of Nangrim.”

Return to Nangrim is set to hit the PC, VR platforms, and consoles some time in 2022.
