Bandai Namco’s Code Vein pushed into 2019

Is delay-season kicking off? Another title gets nudged into next year, as Bandai Namco’s horror game Code Vein gets the push.

Delay of Vein

There haven’t been all that many games, originally set for this year, getting pushed into next year. There’s a good reason for that though. Many of the bigger games that have been announced recently set their launches for 2019 right off the bat.

Still, it’s only July. It could be that we’re going to start hearing a few between now and September. As for the bulk of the new game announcements being for 2019, well there’s rumored to be a very good reason for that.

The main reason that’s been floated is the impending launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 from Rockstar Games. The open-world western is expected to be a juggernaut, and clean up at retail. Make of that what you like, though it just might have some truth to it. Maybe even for a completely different game like Code Vein.

Originally set for release on this September the 28th, Code Vein will instead release sometime in 2019. That’s right, no release date has been announced. Either the game needs a lot more work, or Bandai Namco wants to avoid not just Red Dead, but also what’s become a bloated quarter 1 release period for next year.

For what it’s worth, the publisher is going with the former reason.

CODE VEIN has received an enormous amount of positive feedback from eager fans who have received hands-on time with in-development versions of the game over the past nine months,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “Armed with knowledge of how well the game has already been received, we made the decision to postpone the release of CODE VEIN to further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title. It was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it is the correct one.”
