Exclusive to retailer Entertainment Earth, Ego will be a part of a new Marvel Legends 2 pack with his son, Star Lord.
Ego, the living planet… or Kurt Russel
Ego has been a pretty big mystery in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. In the comics, Ego is a planet. And by that, I mean he’s a planet. A ‘living’ planet, hence the title, with a face that takes up half his mass and everything. In the upcoming sequel to the original GotG though, he’s a man played by actor Kurt Russel.
So what’s the story and why the change? Well it’s been rumored heavily that Ego will be Star Lord’s (actor Chris Pratt) dad, and that his human form will be an extension of his true self. So, he will be the living planet, but will appear and interact with people in a hunan form.
Whatever the back story turns out to be, we finally do have a look at the what the character will look like for at least part of the movie. Revealed by Hasbro at Toy Fair yesterday, this new Marvel Legends version of Ego will come packed in with Star Lord as part of an exclusive two pack sold by Entertainment Earth.
The box set, which you can see above and pre-order right now via the retailer, also includes Star Lord’s twin pistols and an extra masked head for him. Expect it to be delivered this coming August. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits theaters on May 5th.
