One of the most horrific looking titles of the year, the terror that is Layers of Fear is now live on the Xbox One and PC, albeit in an unfinished form.
Microsoft’s Game Preview program for Xbox One and Steam’s Early Access are to blame for ushering in one of the most fear-tastic titles of the year. I mean seriously, did you watch the trailer? That’s some creepy stuff right there.
I’ve not heard of the game before today, but apparently its been garnering some serious buzz, and the story sounds suitably off-kilter. Through the visuals of the Unity Engine, Layers of Fear casts you as a painter who’s “madness-engulfed”, and trying to create the work of his life.
Developer Bloober Team promises some deep themes for this one, which includes the game being “a psychedelic horror game where each turn of the camera may change the look of your surroundings”, that you’ll get “deep insight into the madness that entwines a human being”.
Sounds cheery! Also pretty awesome, to be perfectly honest. And if you’re into being scared out of your wits, then it just might make the perfect Halloween Night playthrough, even in its presently unfinished form.
Layers of Fear is available right now on the Xbox One, PC (Windows and Linux) and Mac, all through the platforms early availability programs.
