It’s all about customization (and Switch 2 details) in the latest look at Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Sega’s upcoming racer, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, sets a focus on vehicular customization in its latest trailer.

You darn right

Yes, it’s time to customize some rides, with Sonic the Hedgehog. Well, actually it’ll be with Sonic and his army of friends and enemies, who can all engage in the mods. And believe us when we say, there are a lot of possibilities.

According to Sega, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will include “over 40+ vehicles, 70+ gadgets, and 100+ vehicle parts and decals”. And with all the mixing and matching you can do, that equates to “thousands of combinations available”. Sounds like all of that should keep players busy between races.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will release for the PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One, Switch, and PC on September 25th. The racer will be ready to roll onto the Switch 2 as well, though it’ll be digital only for its release there, some time this Holiday Season.

We have some great news about that console’s physical edition however, in that the full base game will be on the actual cart. There were rumors that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds would be a Game Key Cart, but that apparently won’t be the case. Even so, it’s not all sunshine and hubcaps, as Switch 2 owners will have to hang on until some time in early 2026 to actually buy the boxed version.

We’ll add however, that Nintendo fans will be able to get the Switch version and upgrade digitally if they like. That’ll come by way of an additional $10 USD fee.
