Bandai Namco and Rebel Wolves’ vampiric aRPG The Blood of the Dawnwalker is looking sharp as a stake in its latest trailer.
Best of both worlds
Announced this past January, The Blood of the Dawnwalker is described as a “dark fantasy action RPG”, and it looks every bit of that tag. In the game, players will take on the role of Coen, a man who’s found himself caught up in a vampire uprising that threatens all of the already war-torn and disease-ravaged Europe.
Recently turned in the midst of the chaos, Coen experiences something fairly unique, in that he becomes a Dawnwalker. Human by day and vampire by night, players will experience both worlds, as they weigh the consequences of sacrificing Coen’s humanity for the greater good.
The Blood of the Dawnwalker looked terrific in its unveiling, but Bandai Namco has unveiled another glimpse of it in action. In it, would-be players can get a better idea of the game’s twin worlds of day and night, as well as the kinds of combat that Coen will be able to engage in.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first chapter of Rebel Wolves’ original dark fantasy saga. Fourteenth-century Europe is engulfed in chaos – bloody wars tear the continent apart, and the Black Death claims a deadly toll. This moment of weakness is seized by a clique of powerful vampires. The time of great change is coming – for everyone.
Play as Coen – a young man who has become a Dawnwalker – a being no longer fully human, yet not entirely a vampire. With just 30 days and nights to save Coen’s family or exact bloody revenge on his sire, regardless of the consequences or the cost of Coen’s thirst for blood. But the most important question for players remains: is it worth sacrificing your humanity for the ones you love?

Summer solstice stream
Along with the above trailer, there’s also word that a special stream of The Blood of the Dawnwalker will be coming up in short order. Set for the summer solstice of June 21st, and yes that was intentional, the stream will run for 45 minutes and showcase 15 minutes of new gameplay footage with “extended developer commentary”.
The upcoming 45-minute solstice livestream will shed more light on several key gameplay features already hinted at in the above trailer, including the directional combat system that blends swordfighting, spells, and vampiric powers. The developers will also demonstrate how players navigate Vale Sangora’s diverse locations and further explore the game world and highlight the gameplay differences between day and night, which will have a significant impact on the story and its course.
“It’s been a pleasure to finally show you more of the game, and I want to thank our community for the incredible support. Back in January, when we first revealed the game, we promised to shed more light on the gameplay this summer—and that moment has finally arrived”, says Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director and Co-Founder of Rebel Wolves. “We’d like to invite you to join us on June 21 for our Gameplay Reveal Event. You’ll learn more about the abilities Coen gains as he becomes the Dawnwalker – a mysterious being balancing the line between the world of day and the realm of night.”
