Just dropped, the story trailer for Sega and Lizardcube’s upcoming Shinobi sequel spells out a sword-slashing tale of revenge.
Joe! Joe! Joe!
Classic Sega hero Joe Musashi is back in action in this summer’s Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. The action side-scroller will bring the property back to its core, with side-scrolling ninja action aplenty, that pits Joe against an evil corporation that’s cursed his clan. Not your typical big biz, ENE Corp is headed by one Lord Ruse, and seeks to eliminate the Oboro Clan through supernatural means.
While we’ve seen some gameplay for the game to date, Sega had yet to release a deeper look at its story. That’s changed as of today though, as the latest look at Shinobi: Art of Vengeance does that and only that. So if you were hoping for another look at gameplay, it’ll have to wait, but if it’s narrative you’re interested in, well go ahead and hit ‘play’.
The trailer illustrates protagonist Joe Musashi’s tragic story, taking players through the loss of his village and the deadly curse placed upon the Oboro Clan. Left with nothing, his sole focus becomes defeating those responsible for burning his village to the ground – Lord Ruse and the ENE Corp. However, the path ahead holds many challenges, for Lord Ruse wields a powerful stolen artifact that grants him immortality. Nothing and no one can stand in his way… or can they? Rise to the challenge and become the ultimate ninja when SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance launches on August 29, 2025.
