GSC Game World’s original trio of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles are enhanced and ready to roll for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The zone returns
Making the jump to the current generation is GSC Game World’s revisitation of the original trio of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles. This time around is a little different however, in that the games it includes aren’t exactly the same as you might remember. Instead S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition offers bumped up versions of Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Prypiat.
Fans can expect these versions of the first-person classics to come complete with “improved lighting with godrays, screen space reflections, and global illumination for a more immersive experience”, according to GSC. On top of that, the developer has enhanced textures for both NPC’s and weaponry, plus the environments themselves. The latter category also includes “advanced shaders for water and wetness effects and updated skyboxes for a dynamic world”, along with pre-rendered cutscenes, delivered in 4K.
Console players will find mouse and keyboard support built-in too, “a variety of quality and performance modes” that can be selected, and both mod creation and sharing via mod.io on the PC. Speaking of the PC side, those who prefer their action on the go will find Steam Deck optimization, as well as cloud saves and controller support. Naturally, the PC version will support mods as well, though it’ll do so by way of Steam Workshop.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition is out now for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Also very much worth noting is that fans who’ve already got a copy of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy for consoles, will be getting a bump up to the new Enhanced Edition for free. Have it for the PC? then you’ll get the same deal, plus those who buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition on that platform will find the originals included at no extra cost. Pretty cool.
