The Clio is a gaming chair-mounted sound system, that provides stereo or surround sound if paired with a desktop speakers.
Rocking out
To put it mildly, getting great sound out of a desktop gaming experience can be a little iffy. While there are quality (not to mention high-priced) surround systems out there, they can be clunky and a chore to set up, especially for those with a smaller space. On the flip side, settling for stereo output is a lot easier, but not ideal for those who want a richer audio experience. To both sides of the equation, peripheral and hardware manufacturer Razer presents the Clio.
Essentially an option that offers an alternative to headphones, the Clio houses a speaker that’s pretty tricked out. Mounted in the headrest is a wireless solution (with a 14 hour battery life) that serves up dual built-in, near-field speakers, designed to send sound right to users ears. Featuring two 43mm drivers, the Clio incorporates THX Spatial Audio, with an ear towards “dynamic, high-fidelity sound for a hyper-realistic listening experience”, according to Razer.
Using Razer Hyperspeed Wireless, the Razer Clio can link up with consoles and PCs, or flip over to Bluetooth for Android or iOS device hookups. As mentioned above too, the Clio can be used either as a “primary speaker”, or serve as part of a 5.1 surround system (as a rear sound speaker), if paired with additional components.
As for comfort, Razer says that the Clio is made of “thick, dense foam that balances support and comfort to cradle the head and neck for a comfortable listening experience.” The device houses adjustable straps to fit it onto an already existing seat back, and the company says it should fit “most” high-backed gaming chairs.
The Razer Clio is available at Razer stores, the company’s online shop, and select other retailers.
