Survive the quarantine zone in Atomfall, out now

Set in a world where the Windscale nuclear disaster was more than it appeared to be, Rebellion’s Atomfall has arrived.

How ’bout a trip to the English countryside

Ah the beauty of rural England. The trees, the cosy villages, the pristine country… the quarantine zone constructed to contain the wake of a nuclear disaster. If you’re thinking that last note doesn’t fit the theme, then you haven’t been watching Atomfall.

Rebellion’s latest title and a wide deviation from the company’s Sniper Elite and Zombie Army series’, Atomfall sees players trapped inside of said zone, with the goal of both breaking out, and discovering exactly what happened at the Windscale Atom Plant. Along the way, survival will be the name of the game, and in a few ways.

Not only will foes be around every corner, but players will have to craft both items and weapons, and even “ransack” houses to scrounge for supplies. The developer calls Atomfall a mix of “science fiction, folk horror and Cold War influences”, and even cites early Doctor Who as an inspiration.

A UK-based post-apocalyptic survival-action game, Atomfall is inspired by the real life Windscale nuclear incident in the 1950s. Players will embark on a fictionalized adventure meeting a cast of weird and wonderful characters as they try to uncover the mystery of what happened at the Atom Plant and escape the Quarantine Zone.

Rebellion press release

Atomfall is out now in both Standard and Deluxe Edition formats for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC (via Steam and Epic). Fans who subscribe to Game Pass will also find it ready to roll, as a day one release, and for the handheld-minded, the PC version of Atomfall is certified for Valve’s Steam Deck.
