Those who are looking for a complete, head to rotten toe, zombie slaying experience will want to check out Dead Island 2: Ultimate Edition.
Fun in the sun
Released in the spring of last year (2023), Dead Island 2’s launch was a big moment for the series. The game had been a long time (long, long time) coming, and unlike with some games that fall into development hell, its eventual release was more than a little well-received.
The first-person, open-world, zombie killing action title looked fantastic, and featured a well crafted and deep world to play in. But that was just the start, as the post-launch roadmap brought even more action by way of several story expansions, and more. Well, if you missed out on any of that, or you’d just like to have all of it included in one neat little package, then you’re going to want to check out Dead Island 2: Ultimate Edition.
It’s a box that will include access to both the Haus and SoLA expansions, plus a bunch of cosmetics and weapons, that will include the weapon-crossover with medieval title Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. But even that’s not all, as also included will be the:
- Memories of Banoi Pack
- Golden Weapons Pack
- Pulp Weapons Pack
- Red’s Demise Pack
- All six Slayer’s Premium Skin Pack
Fans can look for the Dead Island 2: Ultimate Edition to hit Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on October 22nd.
Patch 6 incoming as well
While the above is the long and the short of Dead Island 2: Ultimate Edition, it’s not all that’s set to shake things up for fans. No matter which version of the title you have too, Patch 6 (dropping the same day as the UE) will add in another pretty big chunk new stuff to do.
Developed by Fishlabs in conjunction with DI dev Dambuster Studios, the new Neighborhood Watch game mode is “a new cooperative horde mode” that features a frat house defended by three collegiate members of the fighting Bobcats.
As members of the Bobcats, a fresh trio of College survivors, players must defend their frat house in the Venice Canals from flesh-hungry waves of zombies, using new skills, weapons, and traps (a first in the series).
Adding on to the experience is the addition of New Game Plus, where players can dive back into the heart of LA (or HELL-A as we call it), armed with their favorite characters and weapons to face a whole new set of challenges and reap new rewards. Experienced slayers can look forward to an additional skill slot and increased level cap too.
