Dead Cells expands with the deadly Panchaku (and there’s much more to come)

Ever dreamed of wielding a weapon so powerful, so devastating, that all of your foes cower before you? Well, that’s Dead Cells’ new Panchaku.

It’s 2 frying pans strung together

Yep. That’s kind of it. But the weapon is actually pretty devastating, and we’re told results in some wicked combos.

Evil Empire today announced that Update 30, the “Enter the Panchaku” update is now live on PC, coming soon to consoles. “What is a Panchaku?” you ask? It’s a weapon like nunchakus, except with frying pans that crits on enemies that are facing you and provides some wickedly entertaining combos. This item was first glimpsed in The Bad Seed trailer, and has been a fan request since then. You’re welcome. A rework of 29 items in the game (weapons, skills and mutations) rebalances things throughout, and the game receives the iconic Magic Bow from popular roguelite Soul Knight in a cool weapons crossover. Lastly, but extremely importantly, you can now pet all of your pets in the game.

Motion Twin press release

As you can see there, there’s a lot of ‘new’ in Dead Cells outside of the deadly pans. Not the least of which is petting the critters, which you can do by long-pressing the the “interact” button.

Also kinda big, is that Dead Cells will be getting regular content through 2023. Motion Twin and Evil Empire say to expect a Boss Rush mode at some point, and a heck of a lot more too, since they consider the game to currently be just “mid-product lifecycle”.

Oh, and finally, be on the lookout for something new from MT, as the developer is hard at work on a new title. Nothing to announce yet, just keep it in mind.
