A pair of modern classics have been added to GOG’s online PC gaming shop, with Dark Alliance II and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine.
Top flight fantasy
Two big additions have hit GOG’s storefront. Both Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine are only a few generations old, but have earned a space on a good number of genre fans’ ‘best-of’ lists.
If you’re a younger fan, then you might know the name “Dark Alliance” from the recently released game of (pretty much) the same name. That though, is not this. While last year’s Dark Alliance was a third-person action affair, Dark Alliance II is an action-RPG, complete with isometric viewpoint. Also unlike the newer one, it’s an excellent game, but that’s just like, my opinion.
The GOG release isn’t just the classic ported over either. there are some new elements, including a pair of secret characters.
GOG with its revival of the Good Old Games idea is fully committed to the efforts to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and discoverability of classic games. Taking this into account, GOG releases another long-awaited title – Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II. The game arrives on PC for the first time with some major upgrades by Black Isle Studios such as up to 4k resolution support, two secret characters added, full voice acting, support for local cooperative play and many more. The release is set to go live today at 3 PM UTC.

Action in a grim future
On the flip side of Baldur’s Gate, there’s Warhammer 40K: Space Marine. An awesome action title, and one that’s about to get a sequel, Space Marine slipped gamers into the boots of Ultramarine Captain Titus.
There’s no role-playing to be had here, but all-out action. Players wage war against an Orkish onslaught, on a devastated world. On top of the action, which is fantastic, there’s also a pretty solid story. And if you’ve yet to play, now’s the time, before the sequel arrives.
And while there are no upgrades like with Dark Alliance II, fans will find a few bonuses included with their purchase.
The release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine comes after June’s Sega and GOG partnership announcement. By buying the game on GOG, players will receive tons of bonus content including: the full soundtrack of the game, The Collector’s Edition Artbook, The Official Strategy Guide, and many more. Space Marine is the next major classic release from the Japanese iconic publisher after Alien: Isolation, and is accompanied by the announcement of the upcoming release of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Master Collection, a military science fiction real-time strategy.

While we’re on the subject too, there’s a Warhammer sale happening on GOG right now too. Space Marine itself is 75% off the usual price, and some 50 additional titles are up to 90% off as well. So if you’re a Warhammer fan, you can really load up right now.
