I actually don’t like referring to Fox n Forests as a “retro” platformer. I guess it’s true that it is, but man it looks almost too good for that tag.

Just take a look at this trailer, and tell me you don’t want to play this game.
Take control of Rick, a mischievous fox who embarks on a quest to free the forest from a mysterious power. Wield his magical crossbow against hordes of monsters and enchanted animals. Change between two different seasons in each level, manipulating the environment to create falling leaf platforms in autumn, freeze enemies in winter and more.The mystic forest is full of hidden secrets waiting to be explored with this powerful ability. Uncover the truth behind the fifth season by solving puzzles with power-ups which become available after defeating gigantic bosses.
According to the developers at Bonus Level Entertainment, they wanted to create a game with Fox n Forests that melded elements of Castlevania, Mega Man, and Legend of Zelda. Add to all that the changing season mechanic, which is pretty unique, and you might have a winner of a platformer.
And if you’re any kind of 16bit (particularly SNES) fan, I think it’s fair to say that this should be right up your alley. Originally created from a Kickstarter campaign, Fox n Forests is available today for the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC.
