Pac-Man 256 now chomping consoles and PC

One of the most fun takes on the classic Pac-Man formula in decades, Pac-Man 256 has busted loose from mobiles and arrived on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

I’m going to assume that, if you’ve got an Android or iOS-based mobile phone, you’ve played Pac-Man 256. If you’re a fan of the long running franchise, then it’d be silly if you haven’t since it’s one of the best takes on the maze-running, pellet-chomping game pretty much ever.

Pac-Man 256 comes out of developer Hipster Whale, and readily makes use of a classic glitch. In the original arcade machines, a wall of glitchiness would appear and consume the game once you made it to level 256. This effectively stopped play, but not so here.

This version of the game actually incorporates the glitch though. It follows you at a constant rate as you play through an endless maze. There are tons of power-ups that give the Pacster new powers, as well as the traditional power pellets to eat too, and loads of ghosts- including new ones with unique abilities. Some of them even glitch out themselves and teleport. It’s a terrifically fun time for anyone who loves the original.

I honestly can’t recommend it more highly. Pac-Man 256 is available right now on the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC (Steam), from Bandai Namco. It’ll run you $4.99 USD.
