The Duke is back, this time on the PS Vita and PS3. Oh, and if you’re a PS+ subscriber, he’s also free.
If you seriously haven’t played Duke 3D by now, I don’t even know what to say to you. I mean really, it’s only one of the best FPS’ of all time, loaded with fun stuff, and basically invented a ton of the genre conventions that we’ve all come to take for granted. It might look a little aged, but it’s still more tun worth a play or two.
The most recent incarnation of the classic title, Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition includes the original four-episode game, plus the trio of expansion packs that saw release way back when. These newer adventure didn’t get a whole lot of attention when compared to the core game, but they’re plenty fun as well and send the Duke to the arctic, a “tropical paradise”, and the seat of power of these United States itself- Washington, DC. And this version packs a little extra in the form of some cleaned up visuals, as well as online multiplayer and PlayStation Trophies.
All in all, it’s a lot of Duke for you to play around with (wait, that doesn’t sound right…). The price is set at $9.99 USD for both versions, but as I mentioned, right now the game is free for those who are PS+ members. So really, as long as that describes you, you don’t have a whole lot to lose by adding the old Duke to your cart on ye olde PSN.
