The Nintendo Download goes Boom with a Sonic demo and more

Sonic Boom is almost here for the Wii U and 3DS, and now there’s a demo for the handheld version so you can see what all the re-designed fuss is about.

Sonic Boom has been a polarizing game and it’s not even out yet. You know what they say though, any press is good press, and if your game has the masses talking, there’s got to be something attractive about it. In the case of Sonic Boom, Sega’s new offshoot of the storied Sonic franchise, it’s the almost completely redesigned characters. Sonic is tall and lanky now and Knuckles… well he’s been working out (or something).

Performance enhancing substances aside though, the actual game does look pretty good. It’s super bright and colorful and those designs actually look fairly nice in motion. The graphics are terrific too, so that should help ease fan’s concerns. Of course, it’d also ease concerns to actually get to play the game, and that’s exactly what you’ll get to do with this new 3Ds demo edition.

Not in the mood for hedgehogs? Well how about the wacky sports title Sportsball, or some hot cloning action in The Swapper? Both games are making their eShop debits this week alongside Super Mario Advance, Disney Infinity 2.0, Nintendogs and more. So have a look at the list and get to downloading.

You will be able to transfer your data to the full game if you decide to buy.

In addition to video games available at retail stores, Nintendo also offers a variety of content that people can download directly to their systems. Nintendo adds new games weekly to the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U console and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, the Nintendo DSi^™ Shop for the Nintendo DSi system and the Wii^™ Shop Channel for the Wii console.

The Nintendo eShop is a cash-based service that features a wide variety of content, including new and classic games, applications and demos. Users can add money to their account balances by using a credit card or purchasing a Nintendo eShop Card at a retail store and entering the code from the card. All funds from one card must be loaded in the Nintendo eShop on either Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, but can be used in either Nintendo eShop if the systems are linked to a single Nintendo Network account.
