It’s been almost two weeks since Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze came out, and so far the reception has been warm. The difficulty in particular is most notable.
To drive the point home, Nintendo released a trailer exhibiting some of the deaths that will no doubt occur in your playthrough. Indeed, they really emphasize the point that this game is hard, very hard. A few of the deaths that I witnessed in this trailer happened to me as well. Saw Mill Thrill was particularly aggravating at that point where the giant buzz saw starts chasing you. Missing those trick jumps can happen quite frequently, so don’t get too discouraged if it happens. Some others looks deliberate though, like when the player slowed down during the stage where you’re playing as Rambi.
As the trailer goes on, the lives steadily decrease, until the inevitable game over screen shows up, with Donkey Kong and Diddy on ice, literally. Though some of it is phoned in, for the most part it’s not an exaggeration; Especially when playing hard mode. Players can expect this same type of experience, although it is fun and rewarding at the same time. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is available on the Wii U and in stores now.
