Another week, another pair of classic Sega games translated into 3D on the 3DS.
I’m not all that familiar with Galaxy Force II, but this rail-shooter that was first released in 1988 for the Sega Genesis actually looks pretty nifty on the 3DS. Of course, I guess it kind of should considering that it’s basically a three-dimensional shooter to begin with- now with a heck of a lot more depth.
Now Ecco the Dolphin on the other hand, him I know pretty well. Ecco was first released on the Genesis/Mega Drive as well, and saw its debut in the 1992/93 timeframe , depending on which territory you lived in. Starring a dolphin named Ecco (duh), the game was surprisingly deep (no pun intended) and had tons of really cool ideas and gameplay mechanics (for it’s time anyway) built in. It definitely seems like way more of a challenge adding 3D elements into a game like Ecco with its basically side-scrolling nature, but Sega’s been on a roll with these over the last few weeks, so chances are it looks just fine. And it’s a great game anyway, so even if the 3D is a little ‘meh’, your download should still add a nice smile to your face.
Both games are available today on the eShop for $5.99/€4.99/£4.49
