Dying Light: The Beast rages onto consoles and PC

Techland’s super-powered sequel has arrived. Dying Light: The Beast hits consoles and the PC with a fresh launch trailer.

Rage in Dying Light

Is Dying Light: The Beast the most unique out of all of the releases in the series? Maybe. Though the game also harkens back to the original release in some big ways. For starters, it brings back original hero Kyle Crane, though this is changed version of the scrappy player-character. This time around, he’s been altered by a despot and his cadre of mad scientists.

The result is a man who’s a little more super, able to battle the worst of mankind and the undead alike. Not only that, but he’s prone to fits of rage, and on a quest for bloody vengeance that’ll see him rip through the game’s open-world until he finds it.

That’s not to say that this will be a game that fans won’t recognize however. On the contrary, this fresh release is also being touted as a return to form.

Dying Light is back, and I couldn’t be more proud of my team and the game we created. Their passion, dedication, and hard work have resulted in something truly great. This project taught us more than any before about the importance of staying true to the core elements of our IP. For players, it’s an exciting return to the roots of the series, and for us, we’re back on the right track!” – says Paweł Marchewka, Techland CEO.

You are Kyle Crane. After being captured by the Baron and enduring his painful experiments for years, you escape. Left on the edge of humanity with both human and zombie DNA, you struggle to control your inner beast and the conflict that comes with it. But you’ll need to, if you want to get your revenge on the man who did this to you.

A unique blend of open world and action survival horror, Dying Light: The Beast is set in the beautiful, yet dangerous valley of Castor Woods that’s now overrun with zombies rather than tourists. To take your former captor down, you’ll need to form fragile alliances, as well as utilize all the combat and traversal options in your arsenal.

But be careful: out here, each step is a fight for survival, especially once the sun sets and the tension heightens as the true horrors come out at night!

Out now, and Steam Deck verified

After not all that long of a period between reveal and release, Dying Light: The Beast is indeed here for consoles and the PC. Once again, the title will present players with a set of harrowing open-world adventures, taking them with dealing with all manner of foes. And while Crane will have a little extra stopping power behind him, that might not be all that much of a boon when night falls, and the dead get even more dangerous.

“The time has come. Castor Woods is now open for you to explore, and we couldn’t be more excited for you to experience what we’ve been building. We’ve pushed our parkour to new heights, crafted our most diverse open world yet, and made our combat more visceral than ever. Go ahead – tear through the infected by day and unleash your power. But when night falls, be careful. The Volatile horrors that hunt in the dark are more fearsome than you can imagine. Good night, and good luck.” – wishes Nathan Lemaire, Game Director.

Dying Light: The Beast is our love letter to the series and to the incredible Dying Light community. Our players have stood with us through highs and lows, and our greatest ambition with this project was to deliver the game that our community truly deserves. To all the fans of Kyle Crane and Dying Light – the moment is here. It’s time to unleash The Beast!” – shouts Tymon Smektała, Dying Light Franchise Director, barely able to contain his excitement.

Along with its appearance on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, fans can take this latest foray into the post-apocalypse on the go. That’s thanks to Steam Deck verification, which came through just as the game launched.

So if you’ve got a Steam Deck, you can tote the Steam edition of Crane and co with you.

“As a fan of the Steam Deck, I was personally driven to bring Dying Light: The Beast to the platform. I oversaw every detail to make sure it runs really well, including a special ‘performance’ mode that contains a mix of tweaked settings and special optimizations together with HDR and VRR running smoothly on an OLED display. I’m happy with how the game performs, and I can’t wait for players to try it themselves on September 18th,” said Rendering & Audio Director, Tomasz Szałkowski.
