The House of the Dead 2: Remake getting a physical launch for Switch this Halloween

Physical library fans rejoice, as Microids and Forever Entertainment’s House of the Dead 2: Remake is getting all boxed up.

The dead rise, but in-store this time

Following up on the remake of the original House of the Dead, which arrived a few years back, is the just-released House of the Dead 2: Remake. A ground-up recreation of the 1998 original for consoles and the PC, this new zombie-blasting adventure hit consoles and the PC this month, hailing from developer MegaPixel Studio. But it’s not done yet, as the Switch version of the horror-shooter will also be getting a boxed edition.

Coming courtesy of Microids and Forever Entertainment, House of the Dead 2: Remake will be getting what feels like kind of a deluxe launch too. Much like with the original, the retail box will sport a sleeved design, and also come packed with a trio of holographic cards.

On top of that, the game will also have maybe the best release date possible, landing in stores on Halloween, October 31st.

Dive back into the world of arcade gaming as you face new threats in the heart of Italy in this full remake. Set two years after the initial episode, American AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart are dispatched in Italy, following reports of a zombie epidemic. In charge of investigating the outbreak and ensuring the evacuation of the city’s residents, they will soon find themselves fighting the fierce hordes of undead and other creatures. Joined by British agent Amy Crystal, the team must battle their way through a real nightmare, trying to save the few survivors they find along the way. Whether solo or with a partner, face up to new zombies and even tougher bosses in this intense, fast-paced shooter game!

Microids press release

The classic returns

If you played the original, then you have some idea of what to expect from this sequel. But on top of the re-presentation of that classic, Microids says to expect improved play as well. It might be tough to have a light-gun game with no light guns, but according to the press release, House of the Dead 2: Remake comes stocked with “optimised (sic) handling for more precise aiming”.

Hopefully that means it’s easier to get a fix on the undead that stalk the game’s world, and blast ’em back to the netherworld. Just remember though, that said aiming will be via your console of choice’s controller-mounted joysticks.

On top of that, co-op play is of course included as well, and players can look for multiple in-game routes to explore, and endings to attain. Also, if you don’t want to wait for the physical version, remember that House of the Dead 2: Remake is out now digitally.
