He didn’t get the nickname for nothing, as Dying Light: The Beast‘s hero is almost ready to tear a fissure in the zombie apocalypse.
Hear him roar
Well, now we know one thing at least, that Techalnd is doing with Dying Light: The Beast‘s delay. The developer is seriously amping up the blood and gore, at least if the new trailer is anything to go by. Recently delayed into September, the horror/action game is the latest in the developer’s ongoing zombie series. This one though, is a little different than past releases. It’s a story that’s told in the subtitle, as players will take control of a man who’s not only out for revenge, but has been genetically manipulated.
And from what we can see, the result will be a lot of completely hewn zombies. The undead are in for trouble indeed, as the latest look at the game sees them ripped, slashed, and blasted limb from limb. As you’ll see in a second too, Dying Light: The Beast has even more gore than before, and that includes almost triple the amount of finishing moves that can be applied to the rotters.
“We’ve overhauled the body damage system,” explains Nathan Lemaire, Game Director. “We doubled the number of places on enemies – we call them Gore-Nodes – where players can inflict damage and the number of wounds or injuries that are visible on one single enemy. And we improved the precision of melee attacks – so the angle and trajectory of your strike defines what you hit and how your enemies react to it. So you can target and cut off limbs more precisely than ever!”
Techland press release
Ready for action? There’s still a ways to go until Dying Light: The Beast arrives for consoles and the PC, so you can likely expect to see more videos like the above. Stay tuned as we head towards the game’s arrival on September 19th.
Go behind the butcher’s counter
As little something to go along with the above, make sure to check out the behind the scenes trailer that was recently released as well. In it, you can check out the development team as they explore different gory options, and just how individual situations should look in the upcoming game.
Expect lots of fake blood in this one. Lots and lots…
