Warhammer: Chaosbane brings classically styled action/RPG gameplay to Games Workshop’s Old World. Time to hack and slash.
Chaos reigns
If you played Inquisitor – Martyr, then you know how well a Warhammer title can translate to the realm of aRPGs. And actually, you were probably wondering why it took so long to happen. That game was based in 40k however, the far future version of Games Workshop’s tabletop gaming empire. This new title, dubbed Warhammer: Chaosbane, takes place in the Old World. That means dungeons, swords, and sorcery aplenty.
Here’s a look at the game’s storyline, which won’t be unfamiliar to fans of Inquisitor – Martyr.
I must admit that I’m a little bummed out that Bigben and developer Eko chose Chaos to throw players up against. The only reason being that we just saw the sci-fi version of that. Still, the game is looking undeniably cool, and I’m liking the medieval aesthetic. It fits the genre like a glove after all.
There was a glimpse of gameplay in that video, but publisher Bigben has released a much better look at it. In the following, you’ll see how solo and co-op play work, as well as get an idea of both the melee and ranged combat.
Ready to dig into some dungeoning? Well hang on, because you have a bit of a wait. Warhammer: Chaosbane has no release date just yet, but is expected to hack onto consoles and the PC some time next year.
