Fans of classic FPS’ get ready, because a brand new (and free) expansion for Blood: Refreshed Supply is out now.
Blood’s got a Death Wish
By now there’ve been a few different revisions of Blood. The latest of those though, Blood: Refreshed Supply, looks like it’s set to be the ultimate edition of the classic first-person shooter. It’s easy to see why too. For one thing, the title hails from Nightdive Studios, a developer that’s got volumes of experience with retro titles.
And for another? Well, not only is it packing the original game’s pair of add-ons, but it’s got two more just for good measure. Those would be the already released Marrow and… Death Wish. It’s that last one, that’s the most impressive inclusion too, and not just because it’s free.
Death Wish sounds absolutely massive, offering a total of 48 maps, according to Nightdive. Yes, that’s more than the main game’s 42. Those missions are divided across four episodes of action, and star a new storyline that picks up the action from supernatural hero Caleb’s first adventure.
Death Wish — with four episodes, totaling 48 maps — begins years in the future after the events of Cryptic Passage, Post Mortem, and Marrow, where the specter of Tchernobog still looms after his defeat, having regained strength as protagonist Caleb fought other battles. When his growing power can no longer be veiled, Tchernobog’s forces face off against his foe as the moment of the Dreaming God’s ascension draws near. All maps have been upgraded from their previous mod versions, while the entirety of episode 4 and other levels are entirely new. All maps are co-op compatible and feature custom music from Noelle Amelie Aman (Speedy) and Sjellos (Silentsphere Studios).

As mentioned, the Death Wish expansion is available now to add onto your base copy of Blood: Refreshed Supply. That’s available for just about every modern platform, including Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One, PS5/PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
A Switch 2 edition is coming also, and should be along sometime this year.
Blood lives… again
Back once more, Blood is the classic FPS that just won’t die. Though that wasn’t the case for a long while. The title, which was originally released back in 1997 for the PC, faded into the ether for a good long while before being resurrected as Blood: Fresh Supply in 2019. Nightdive’s rebirth for the game would see one more refinement after that, giving way to the Refreshed Supply edition that we covered above.
It sounds like a bit of a beast too. Along with the expansions, including the just-released Death Wish, Blood: Refreshed Supply also includes a heck of a lot of improvements. Both the PS4/5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S editions can run the game in 4K, complete with 120fps. Along with that, it touts CD and MIDI music, and new modding support has been built in.
It gets even better though, as both online and split-screen co-op play are available, and there’s something called the New Vault. What’s that? Well, it includes “dozens of playable cut-content levels, concept art, behind-the-scenes photos, and unused sprites.” So if you’re a big fan of the property, we’d say that’s an addition that’s as sharp as a pitchfork.
Armies of bloodthirsty fiends, including cultists, gargoyles, zombies, hellhounds, and a host of other unholy terrors, await across the game’s 42 pulse-pounding levels — waiting to be mutilated by a vicious arsenal of weapons. Blood buddies can also take the fun into multiplayer, either online or on the couch in split-screen. Advanced modding support keeps juices flowing for custom fan-made content. In addition to the original Blood campaign and the Plasma Pak and Cryptic Passage add-ons, Blood: Refreshed Supply features two new mission scenarios: Marrow (available now) and Death Wish.
