A new Blood Bowl is coming, and sooner than you think

No, we’re not talking about Blood Bowl 3. A new Blood Bowl title is coming up fast from NACON and Cyanide Studio.

Blood Bowl returns (was it gone?)

A series that’s stretched into a recently released third outing, NACON and developer Cyanide Studio’s Blood Bowl is coming back again. This time though, it’s looking like more of a soft-reboot than a sequel. That’s right, the just-announced Warhammer Blood Bowl will start something new. Though it’ll also seemingly follow suit with its predecessors in a few ways.

In maybe the biggest holdover, the fantasy sports title will once again feature turn-based play. So if you’re a fan of the tabletop game it adapts, you should still feel right at home with it. Unlike with previous video game releases though, this new title will include the latest ruleset from Games Workshop.

Here’s a look at it in action, showcasing the new Rumble mode:

Warhammer Blood Bowl is the official turn-based tactical fantasy football game based on the famous tabletop game of the same name. Set in the Warhammer universe, the game offers a strategic and brutal experience in which players take control of a team chosen from the many available factions (Elves, Orcs, Dwarfs, and more), customize it, and develop it by competing against other players online.

NACON press release

The road to the championship

Players will be able to take a total of 26 factions to the gridiron in Warhammer Blood Bowl. That’ll include a pair of new teams, with the Tomb Kings and the Bretonnians. Fans can also expect updated rosters for all factions, plus “new competitions, new tutorials, and a brand-new way to play with Rumble”.

We’re digging the look of that new mode so far. It essentially shakes out to offer half-hour games, with “smaller teams and a narrower pitch”. So it’s built with a little more speed in mind. Along with all of that, this new release will serve up both solo and multiplay, and there’ll be “no step back in terms of content or features”, according to the publisher.

In a cool move for legacy players too, NACON adds that owners of Blood Bowl 3 will get to keep “their accounts along with all the content they have purchased or unlocked in-game”. It gets better though, as BB3 owners also get the new game for free. That’s right, the “new adaptation will be free for all players who already own Blood Bowl 3“. Pretty slick.

As mentioned above, fans can look for Warhammer Blood Bowl soon. It’s scheduled to hit the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) in the spring of 2026. In the meanwhile, PC players looking to get a taste of the action can download the demo.

That’ll include that new Rumble mode, and will be posted to Steam from March 18th to March 25th, 2026.
