Bigfoot makes his way into the Backwoods of Fallout 76

Bethesda’s online post-apocalypse has a brand new threat. That’s because Bigfoot himself has arrived for Fallout 76.

Bigfoot stalks the wasteland

Still rolling along is Fallout 76, as Bethesda’s multiplayer-centric title just keeps on getting bigger. The title is coming off of the 2025 addition of Ghouls as playable characters, playing off of the property’s popular TV show, and now is back with a new foe for players to engage.

A mighty cryptid, that new enemy would be none other than Bigfoot. The creature that many might know from real-world folklore does indeed now stalk the post-apocalyptic future of Fallout 76. Though don’t expect him to be a kindly guardian of the forest. Bigfoot arrives as a part of The Backwoods, the latest expansion for the title. That’s where you’ll find him in the game too, deep in the woods, though it doesn’t sound like it’ll be overly easy to do so.

According to the press release, it sounds like it’s feasible that you might run into a Bigfoot randomly. Maybe. That said though, it’s way more likely that you’ll find one in the midst of a Public Event. So, you know, make some noise.

With The Backwoods update, players can participate in a number of Public Events for the chance to lure the tree-wielding, tick-throwing Bigfoot from the woods. Bringing Bigfoot down within five minutes will grant players a four-star legendary reward or the challenge-exclusive ‘Thrill Seekers’ mod. Players are very unlikely to run into Bigfoot in the open world as he is drawn to the sounds of the frenzied action in Public Events, so they should join as many possible to see if the flighty fiend takes direct action against the noise pollution.

Updating the wasteland

Along with Bigfoot’s arrival, today’s update also makes a few additional alterations. The aforementioned Public Events and Activities have both gotten overhauls. Those seem pretty wide-ranging too, with “rebalanced enemies, richer rewards, and dangerous three-star Uninvited Guests that may make appearance at the close of various Public Events”. Yeah, there’s your Sasquatch alright.

But wait, there’s more, as players can also look for “enemy level scaling and quality-of-life improvements”. Those will include “new vanity lights for Photo Mode, updated Pip-boy UI, and more”. And then there’s Season 24.

Also launching today, Season 24 of Fallout 76 includes even more way-out invaders. And when we say “way-out”, we mean cosmically. Officially titled Rip Daring and the Cryptids Beyond the Cosmos, Season 24 brings on the aliens. Extraterrestrial creatures called the Zetans have come to Earth, and blasting one will “unlock trophies and other season exclusive rewards”. You can read more about the nefarious ET’s here.
