Nintendo’s new lineup of kid-centric Super Mario toys debuts. My Mario is available at Nintendo Stores, with some items hitting additional retailers.
Now you’re playing with My Mario power
For those who don’t know, My Mario is something altogether new for Nintendo. Not a video game, but a selection of toys, this new collection of offerings is pointed directly at young children. Looking at it too, it has us wondering why Nintendo didn’t do something like this years (decades?) ago.
The fresh collection is no one trick Yoshi either. It’s been assembled “with a range of licensed partners”, including huge brand names like TOMY and Fisher-Price. And as for individual offerings, there look to be quite a few to kick this lineup off.
Just a warning before you read on though, as the majority of these goodies look to be exclusive to the Nintendo Store. That’s to mean Nintendo New York and Nintendo San Francisco, which will be hosting the bulk of the toys and games.
Not that it’s completely limited to those locations though. There are some items that’ll appear elsewhere, and it sounds like there are more en route. You’ll see all of the above listed below.
Starting today, visitors to Nintendo NEW YORK and Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO will find a variety of My Mario products, including:
- Two wooden block sets featuring Mario as well as items from the Super Mario series: the Mario Wood Block Set (3 pcs) and a Mario & Friends Wood Block Set (30 pcs).
- Toys that include fun rattles and cuddly Mario plush.
- Little People My Mario toys from Fisher-Price featuring toddler-friendly figures and action-packed playsets.
- Adorable and fashionable onesies and baby and toddler clothes featuring Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom friends.
In addition to the products available at the Nintendo stores, a range of products will also be available at select mass retailers across the country, rolling out starting now and throughout the next few months. These products include:
Nintendo press release
- An interactive Hello, Mario! board book by Nintendo and published by Penguin Random House.
- Tomy Toomies My Mario collection to power up bathtime.
Going multimedia
So yes, the bulk of what this new initiative will be offering looks like it’s going to be decidedly offline. But even so, this is Nintendo we’re talking about, so you bet there’s some electronic content to be had as well. Just like the toys though, it’s meant for the younger set, though it’ll come in both passive and interactive varieties.
First up, are the “It’s Me, Mario! Stop Motion Shorts”. Those can be found via a few outlets, including the My Mario website and the Play Nintendo YouTube channel. On top of those, there’s also the free Hello Mario app, that seems a little more in-depth.
By way of that, young Mario fans can “playfully interact with Mario”, according to Nintendo. At least one part of it is reminiscent of the opening screen of Super Mario 64, not that that’s a bad thing. Look for it on compatible smart devices, as well the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 consoles themselves.
