The Shore: Enhanced Edition brings the PC adventure to consoles

Dragonis Games’ cosmic horror adventure is coming to consoles. Take on eldritch madness in The Shore: Enhanced Edition.

Usually when you’re planning a trip to the shore, it’s for a vacation. But fun in the sun isn’t what Dragonis Games’ horror adventure seeks to serve up. First released in 2021 for the PC, the title is steeped in cosmic terror, and spins what sounds like a dark and emotional tale.

Players take on the role of Andrew, a man who’s looking for his missing daughter. Her vanishing takes an even stranger turn though, when he ends up on a remote island, one that hasn’t see the likes of mankind in a while. Once there, Andrew is pulled into a mysterious series of events that includes appearances by otherworldly gods.

While the title emerged originally for the PC though, it’s not set to stay there. Thanks to a publishing partnership with Iphigames, The Shore is heading to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in “Enhanced Edition” form. If you’re a horror fan, you might want to take a look at the first trailer too, as it’s looking pretty darn great.

Enhanced horror

We were somehow unaware of The Shore previously, but this first trailer for the console edition is a stunner. The visuals warp from cold and moody to straight-up alien insanity, and the whole thing carries a heavy vibe.

The Shore: Enhanced Edition is described as “a nightmare shaped by fear, loss and obsession” by the developer. And don’t get the impression that you’ll be an action hero in this title either. While it’s set in first-person, it sounds like this cosmic trip will be heavy on exploration and puzzle solving.

Well, that and surviving encounters with things that were never meant for the world of man.

Players take on the role of Andrew, a father searching for his missing daughter on a remote island abandoned by humanity. As he explores decaying ruins and twisted landscapes, reality begins to fracture. The island hides secrets older than time, and every step forward pulls him deeper into a nightmare shaped by fear, loss and obsession.

Ancient gods lie hidden beneath the island, slowly changing the world above. Armed with strange artifacts and fragments of forbidden power, players must survive encounters with eldritch beings while uncovering the truth behind the island and Andrew’s daughter’s fate. Knowledge comes at a terrible cost.
