The Disney Afternoon Collection expands onto Switch with even more games

An already chunky pack of Disney classics is getting bigger. The Disney Afternoon Collection is heading to Switch/Switch 2.

The Disney Afternoon, a core memory for 90s kids

Running for basically the entirety of the 1990s, The Disney Afternoon was an after school staple. The block of cartoons debuted a monster slate of now-classic shows. Those included the likes of Duck Tales and its semi-spinoff Darkwing Duck, plus Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop and loads more.

Right there with the toons too, were multiple action figures lines, loads of collectibles and apparel, and yes, video games. Some of those titles are true all-timers too, ranking amongst the best platformers of all time. For those looking to relive TDA’s glory, a good chunk of the games have been re-playable via The Disney Afternoon Collection.

That set of games, debuting in 2017, came bundled with NES classics galore. Fans could delve into DuckTalesDuckTales 2, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue RangersChip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck. But if you thought that was the last that you’d see of those adventures, or the title itself, guess again.

A new afternoon

Yes indeed, The Disney Afternoon Collection is back for more in 2026, now courtesy of Atari and developer Digital Eclipse. Just revealed, the pack is coming to the Switch and Switch 2, and sooner than later. How soon? Well, it’ll actually be out before the end of this month. How’s that? Oh, and along with the new platform, it’s packing some new games.

Both the lesser known Bonkers and fan-favorite Goof Troop appear in the set now, pulled from the SNES’ library. Kind of cool too, is that the newly revamped The Disney Afternoon Collection represents the first time either one of those titles will be presented anywhere outside of that iconic 16bit console.

Along with all of the above, will be ample bonus material as well. Players will be able to find a music player, as well as Time Attack and Boss Rush modes, plus Rewind and game Save features. So yeah, look for the modern niceties to be plentiful.

Included in The Disney Afternoon Collection are:

  • Goof Troop (SNES)Team up with Goofy and Max in one of Shinji Mikami’s earliest titles, solving puzzles together to rescue friends from a pirate island.
  • Bonkers (SNES): Navigate six wacky platforming levels in Toontown filled with Easter eggs for Disney fans.
  • DuckTales & DuckTales 2 (NES): One of Capcom’s biggest hits, play as Scrooge McDuck with a cane that doubles as a weapon and a pogo stick. Explore multi-path levels packed with secrets, surprises and a memorable soundtrack. The sequel is just as fun!
  • Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers & Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2(NES): In this early 8-bit co-op platformer starring loveable chipmunk detectives, players work together to navigate levels, collecting acorns, boxes and other items to throw at enemies.
  • TaleSpin (NES): Fly through the skies as Baloo in his plane, The Seaduck, in this side-scrolling shooter. Use quick reflexes and ace piloting skills to dodge enemies and bosses.
  • Darkwing Duck (NES): Fight crime as the winged terror himself, Darkwing Duck, and battle a variety of enemies with a gas gun.
Atari press release

The Disney Afternoon Collection arrives digitally, for both the Switch and Switch 2, on February 26th, 2026. As you can see in the trailer though, there’s a physical launch upcoming as well. Fans can look for boxed editions of the game (for both Nintendo consoles) some time in May.
