It’s Halloween week, and treats abound. One of the latest, is CHIPS AHOY!‘s tie-in with TV phenomenon Stranger Things.
Stranger Cookies
As you might know, next month (November 2025) brings the last season debut for Stranger Things. Netflix’ hit paranormal adventure will once again star Millie Bobby Brown as psychic powerhouse Eleven, along with Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, and the rest of the gang.
The new season will wrap up the show with what we’re guessing will be a climactic showdown with the evil Vecna. But not everything about this new season is quite so wicked. Take one tie-in in particular, which brings tasty treats together with upside-down madness. Those would be a newly debuted cookie, from CHIPS AHOY!, as the legacy cookie-maker brings Stranger Things to the sweets aisle.
I had the chance to try out these little indulgences, and thought they’d be a great way to kick off a new section here on BrutalGamer, BG Eats.
Are these actually from the upside-down?
Stranger Things‘ alternate reality, the upside-down, is more than home to creatures like the Demogorgons. It’s dark and forbidding enough on its own, as the world flips the light of our reality on its head. And that certainly seems to be the thinking behind the actual design of the CHIPS AHOY! x Stranger Things cookies.
The baked goods are smaller than I remember CHIPS AHOY! cookies being. I will add that I haven’t had one for a good number of years though, so maybe that’s me. But while they’re not all that large, they’re mighty interesting to behold. These look nothing like your average snackables, and have a special feel to them.

The majority of the outside is a dark chocolate. Now, I don’t mean that in that it tastes like semi-sweet, it’s just darker in color than you might imagine. And on top of that, the cookies have got chocolate chips interspersed across them.
That’s just the start though, as the interior pokes out all over the place, and it’s a crimson red in color. The stark contrast between the almost black shade of the cookie itself and that interior makes for a cool visual, and one that’s very fitting for Halloween season, let alone Stranger Things.
They don’t taste like they’re evil
While the outside of the treats look positively wicked, they’re actually pretty darn tasty. These cookies carry the fudgy flavoring quite powerfully, as the chewy outer layer and chips making that familiar taste stand out. But just as the strawberry interior makes an optical impact, the taste does too.
I could definitely pick up the strawberry in there, even though I’ll add that it was understated next to the chocolate. No, the berry flavor isn’t overpowering in the least, and if you’re primarily a choco-lover, I think you’ll dig these. The only thing that threw me was that I had assumed the filling was going to be kind of gooey. It’s almost the opposite of that though.

Just to be clear, I’m not talking about something like a ‘hard candy’ level of bite. But that said, the filling has nonetheless a much crispier makeup to it than the cookie itself. I didn’t have a problem with this, though someone else who tried one was a little put off by it.
One more thing that’s worth talking about is the consistency. I mentioned that in passing above, but these are super-duper chewy (except for that filling). Maybe that’s because the packaging to well made, or it was just the bag I got, but the freshness was noticeable.
It was so noticeable that the cookies all but fell apart in my hands. Not a bad thing by any means, but take that as a warning to grab a napkin if you’re setting up to snack on ’em.
Overall
If you don’t mind the mix of textures, then the CHIPS AHOY! x Stranger Things cookies could make a nice addition to your own Halloween plans. They’re packing a great look, and for those who like chocolate and strawberry, they just might turn your snack time upside-down.
In addition to the cookies themselves, there’s also an AR game that’s rolling right now. Click here to check out the full details on that, and to give it a play.
