Available in Early Access, Bloober Team’s time-bending horror shooter Chronos: The New Dawn hits general release this week.
Heads up chrononaut
Survival horror with a hefty dose of sci-fi? Yeah, that’s looking like Chronos: The New Dawn in a nutshell, as the third-person shooter has just launched itself into Early Access and is about to hit a mass market release for consoles and the PC.
From developer Bloober Team, Chronos: The New Dawn is set in a fractured world, one that’s based on Nowa Huta. That’s a real historical district in Kraków, Poland, and while it’s not at the center of a rip in space and time, it nonetheless inspired the look of this new title.
The game itself is split between two worlds, that of a “post-apocalyptic future decaying in despair, and the gritty, industrial 1980s reality”. So with that, you can see where old Nowa Huta’s aesthetic fits in. Not that this is a game about architecture though, as Chronos: The New Dawn looks to present players with a wholly new take on survival horror.
Bloober Team invites players to descend into the unforgiving world of New Dawn with the launch of early access today for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Step into the hunting suit of The Traveler — an enigmatic agent of the Collective, sent into zones scarred by the Change, a cataclysmic event that shattered time, memory, and flesh. What remains is a world suspended between past and future — haunted, hostile, and unravelling. Survival is anything but certain.

The Change arrives
As mentioned above, Chronos: The New Dawn is actually in Early Access as of today. Players can dig in via the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, though the full digital launch isn’t far off either. That’s coming up later this very week, on September 5th, and will include a Switch 2 version.
Pre-orders are still open for that, and will net those buying in a few bonuses. A pre-order gets buyers up to 48 hours of advance playtime, meaning that when you buy in (before the full launch) you can download and start playing right away.
That’s not all though, as pre-ordering Chronos: The New Dawn will also grant the following:
- Bonus resources: handgun ammo, shotgun shells, energy packs
- Three exclusive Traveler skins
- Digital artbook and official soundtrack
While the digital launch is this week, there’s more to come. Game fans who prefer physical copies for their IRL libraries will be able to find Chronos: The New Dawn out on retail shelves next month. The physical launch will come on October 21st, via publisher Skybound Games, and be available for the PS5 and Switch 2.

Check out the official rundown on that, below.
Physical Editions ($59.99) for both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, produced in partnership with Americas physical distributor Skybound Games, are also now available for pre-order at select retailers including GameStop and Amazon. In addition to physical copies of the standard base game, these will include a unique Traveler skin and access to a cache of valuable digital supplies, along with a set of collectible physical stickers inspired by Cronos’ haunting world. In the Americas, the PlayStation 5 Physical Edition will be available Sept. 19 and the Nintendo Switch 2 Physical Edition will be available on Oct. 21.
