Back to the Future celebrates 40 years with special IMAX launch

Hitting IMAX theaters on October 31st is the original Back to the Future film, and tickets are on sale right now.

We’ve got to get back

While going back to 1985 sounds pretty great, Back to the Future is about to go in the opposite direction. The iconic film from Robert Zemeckis, and starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, first hit theaters in the summer of ’85, but has traveled all the way to the year 2025 for a special IMAX debut.

It’s arriving in the format in no time too, with the movie landing on the world’s biggest screens this Halloween, October 31st. The short run comes to celebrate a special anniversary, as that trilogy-opener ushers in its 40th.

Check out the official anniversary trailer below, and just try not to get some chills.

When teenager Marty McFly is blasted to 1955 in the DeLorean time machine created by the eccentric Doc Brown, he finds himself mixed up in a time-shattering chain reaction that threatens to erase his future—and trap him in the past forever.

IMAX press release

As mentioned above, tickets are on sale right now for the IMAX edition of Back to the Future. You can check out the official page and buy some for yourself, here. Just keep in mind that this is a pretty darn limited set of screenings from the looks of it.
