It’s year two of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, as the excellent third-person action title rolls on with more free and paid content.
In the darkness of the 41st millennium
Released in 2024, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 brought a loaded followup to fans of the original. The third person action title showcased more of Lieutenant Titus’ story, picking up from the first game in 2011, but included much, much more.
Not only was there a campaign, but Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive’s sequel also included both multiplayer versus action and co-op missions. Even better, there was a rolling assortment of additions that came by way of updates and paid DLC for it, that brought in cosmetics, new chapters, and more.
With that season one in the bag at this point, Focus has revealed season two, and it’s looking even more packed. Like with the game’s freshman year too, it’ll be a split between free and paid content. While Year 2 of the game will fall into the ‘update’ category, Season Pass II will include premium content. Much like with Year 1 though, most of the latter will be cosmetic in composition.
Year 2 is go
A total of six new planned patches are on tap for Year 2 of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Those will be arriving for the game through the rest of this year (with two scheduled) and into 2026. As for what’ll be included, fans can expect new modes for both PvE and PvP, plus a new class and more.
In all, season two will serve up:
- Four new Operations and a new Siege map
- Two new Eternal War arenas
- New Stratagems (PvE) and Helbrute Onslaught (PvP) game modes
- New playable class: The Techmarine
- New weapons and free unlockable weapon variants for existing weapons
- New enemies and bosses
- New Progression mechanics
The grimdark fun kicks off for Year 2 of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on September 4th, with the Anniversary Update.
Not to be confused with Season Pass II
When that aforementioned Anniversary Update lands on the 4th, it won’t be alone. Also debuting on the same day will be the game’s Season Pass II, and its first two downloadable content packs. And yes, now we’re talking about premium content.
Included in the first volley there will be the Black Templars Champion Pack and Imperial Fists Cosmetic Pack. Fans an expect to find quite a bit, with the “Champion skin for the Bulwark class and Power Sword skin for the former, and over 40 new cosmetics celebrating seven of the Imperial Fists’ Successor Chapters for the latter”, according to publisher Focus.
Season Pass II will be comprised of a total of nine packs too, so there’s quite a bit coming up for those who like to customize. Loaded into the packs will be an assortment of goodies, with “new Champion skins, armour pieces and heraldry markings”.
Want more? Well, Season Pass II will also grant new visuals for existing Chapters like the Blood Angels and Salamanders, plus “Chapters like the Raptors, Iron Hands and Carcharodons will get their due time in the spotlight.” So it’s not all content solely for the biggest names in the Imperium.
