Buddy-platforming remake Yooka-Re-playlee gets a teaser trailer

A bat, a chameleon, and a perturbed bee all feature in a fresh teaser trailer for Yooka-Re-Playlee, the remake of the 2017 original.

Yooka-Laylee redux

After a good long while, or at least one that felt like it, Yooka-Laylee’s remake has a fresh trailer. Okay, technically it’s not a full trailer, but still, this new teaser shows quite a bit of the upcoming game off. And from the looks of things, Yooka-Re-Playlee almost feels like a totally new game.

There’d be good reason for that, as Playtonic Games and PM Studios describes this early look as containing peeks at “fresh levels, fiendish platforming gauntlets, and more shiny collectibles than you can shake a googly eye at”. From the sound of that, even Yooka-Laylee vets might find a good deal of ‘new’ in this reforging.

However it shakes out though, it’s tough to deny just how good Yooka-Re-Playlee looks. The trailer delivers a blast of color and charm that genre fans should dig, big time.

The video you just checked out was revealed during IGN’s Gamescom 2025 showcase. So if you were wondering, that’s why you see the logo of the media company included. It’s not the only early look that fans will get at the upcoming game this month though.

According to Playtonic, Yooka-Re-Playlee will get its “next major update” at something called The MIX Fall Showcase. We can’t say that we’re familiar with that particular event, but if it’s set to offer more about Yooka-Re-Playlee, we’ll have to check it out.

As for the when’s and where’s, The MIX will be happening this Friday, August 29th, starting at 9am pacific time. Fingers crossed that we’ll get a release date announcement.
