Console and PC (and mobile) players look to have one heck of an adaptable controller on the way, with the Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG.
Hitting the beach
Turtle Beach has been around for a long time, and has produced some great stuff over those years, including controllers. The latest from the company though, might be one of the best we’ve seen yet, especially for those who like adaptability.
The Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded looks like it might excel in that arena, and then some. Just hitting pre-orders now, the fresh pad features multiple connectivity options, and both PlayStation and Xbox-specific editions, along with almost every feature that we could think of.
There seems to be a good reason for that too. According to Turtle Beach, the successor to the original Victrix Pro BFG was forged with community feedback in mind.

“We’ve been looking forward to debuting the new Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller here at EVO Vegas among some of our hardest core competitive gamers and fans and giving them the opportunity to get it early,” said Trevor Lehr, Director, Victrix Product Management, Turtle Beach. “We’ve been taking detailed notes from the community on what they’d want to see in a future BFG controller, and when gamers get their hands on the new Reloaded model, I’m confident they’ll agree the Victrix brand has once again delivered the most customizable and reliable performance-driven controller around.”

Survival of the fittest
The most immediately impressive thing about the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded might be the modular design of the units. That comes in two parts, starting with the fact that both units can swap out different thumb-sticks, with a nod to different in-game circumstances.
That’s not all though, as these bad boys can also convert from standard dual-stick designs to six-button fight pads in seconds. All you have to do is pop out the typically configured right stick/face buttons, and pop in the “Fightpad” design.
And yes, as you’d imagine, that module includes no second stick, replacing it with six face buttons. Too darn cool. On top of that, the controllers include mappable buttons (including back-buttons) and Hall-Effect tech, which Turtle Beach says will ensure “drift-free precision and consistent, reliable input accuracy”.

Users will be able to “easily remap buttons, optimize triggers, adjust deadzones, and more using the free Victrix Control Hub app”, which is available for use on the Xbox and PC. The pads should be nice and comfy for those long sessions too, thanks to “enhanced, textured grips and ergonomic design”.
The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded comes in black and white colorways, and does have some platform-specific exclusive features. On that end, the PS5 version can be easily toggled for play on its home console, the PS4, or the PC, and also includes wired 3D audio, via its built-in jack. Of course, the game you’re playing has to support 3D audio to use that option, but it’s a cool addition nonetheless.
As for the Xbox edition, that version is compatible with the PC as well, and also comes packing the ability to connect to Bluetooth equipped Mobile Devices and supported Smart TVs (with Bluetooth). That additional Bluetooth connectivity is not listed for the PS5 version, so make a note if you want the options. Along with that too, Xbox fans get a bonus in the form of a lifetime subscription for Dolby Atmos surround sound. Not too shabby.
Players can expect some 20 hours of battery life from any of the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controllers, along with a 30 foot range. And if you run dry of battery power, not to worry, as Turtle Beach will also be including a three meter braided USB cable for both charge and play.
The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is expected to ship on September 28th, and is up for pre-order via Turtle Beach’s online shop now.
