The past is coming alive on Apple TV+ once again, as the platform’s Prehistoric Planet enters the Ice Age this November.
Prehistoric Planet continues into a new age
It’s millions of years after a global extinction event wiped the slate clean of dinosaurs. Earth is recovering from this disaster, but not without some very visible changes. For one thing, the life forms have gotten smaller, and they’re now mostly mammalian. But additionally, the cold has long taken hold, and the globe has entered into an Ice Age.
This is the point where the Apple TV+ show called Prehistoric Planet picks up the action, for its latest season this fall. Officially Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age, the new season hails from executive producers Jon Favreau and Mike Gunton, and will be produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit. Framestore will be supplying the computer generated visuals for the series, with Hans Zimmer, Anže Rozman, and Kara Talve from Bleeding Fingers Music will on board for the audio. As for who’s narrating, that would be actor Tom Hiddleston.

“Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age” uses the latest scientific research and cutting-edge visual effects to bring this frozen world to life like never before, unveiling the spectacular habitats and inhabitants of ancient Earth for a one-of-a-kind experience. From towering woolly mammoths to elusive snow sloths, terrifying saber-toothed tigers to resilient dwarf elephants (only 3 feet tall), the series reveals the epic struggles and unexpected stories of animals that once ruled the Ice Age.
Viewers will journey through vast tundras, barren deserts, expanding grasslands and melting permafrost as these creatures battle for survival in the face of extreme climates, shifting landscapes and the onset of “The Big Freeze,” and ultimately, “The Big Melt.”
