Activision’s premier shooter is back, once again delving into the world of Black Ops, and you’ll get your first look in August.
Heed the call
Back-to-back Black Ops games is something that’s never happened before in the Call of Duty franchise. Last year, of course, saw the arrival of Black Ops 6, which took the series into the early 90s. The first-person shooter brought back some long time favorite characters for another round of covert action, as well as serving up host of multiplayer modes that are naturally still rolling now.
Instead of swapping out Black Ops for Modern Warfare (or a new spinoff) here in 2025 though, Activision and developers Treyarch and Raven Software will be gong right back into it. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will launch some time this fall/Holiday Season, and bring the sub-series back to the near-future once again. Unfortunately, that’s almost all that we know about the game to date, though that little fact will change mightily in short order.
Activision announced as much today, with the reveal of a special Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Worldwide Reveal. The event will take place on August 19th, during Opening Night Live at the massive gaming show, GamesCom. As to what’ll be discussed, that’d typically be the campaign, though last year both single and multiplayer were gone over at one event to rule them all. So, basically, stay tuned.
The big show will begin at 11am pacific time/2pm eastern, with the publisher saying that fans should “get ready for epic twists, developer intel, and the official start of a bold new chapter in Black Ops history.“
