Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 brings in the free Siege Mode, plus paid DLC’s offering both a new Chapter and Cosmetic Pack.
The never-ending battle
Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive’s latest foray into the Warhammer 40,000 universe was already pretty epic. Presenting the Ultramarines and Lieutenant Titus’ return to action, the title offered up a campaign that pitted the heroes of the Imperium against the vicious Tyranids and vile forces of Chaos. That was just the game’s narrative mode though, as it also served up expanded missions focused on co-op play, and standard multiplayer. Today though, it grows ever deeper with another (not to mention free) way to play; Siege Mode.
You’d probably recognize the mode by other names, but Patch 8’s Siege Mode basically throws never-ending waves of foes at players, whose goal is to defend an Imperial fortress for as long as they can, before they extract or expire. Developer Saber Interactive shakes up what might be a familiar formula though, with “Requisition Terminals” that become available after each wave. There players can spend points they’ve earned, on Cadian guard regiments and even Dreadnought support.
Fight against impossible odds in Space Marine 2’s Siege Mode, a new PvE experience available for free to all players today. Set on Kadaku, this three-player game mode pits you against ever deadlier waves of Tyranid and Thousand Sons, daring you and your squad to hold an imperial fortress for as long as you possibly can.
Earn points with each wave you defeat and spend them at Requisition Terminals to stay in the fight. Ammunition, equipment charges, and Medicae Stimms will keep you upright, but as the going gets tough, spending your points on reinforcements like Cadian regiments or Dreadnought support will prove invaluable. Every five waves, you and your squad will be called upon to defend a new area of the fortress – if you’re able to defeat the Carnifexes, Neurothropes and Helbrutes throwing themselves at you, that is!
Extract before it’s too late to earn Requisition Points, Armoury Data and XP, or fulfill your duty to the Emperor, for only in death does duty end.
Focus Entertainment press release
As you can see there, Patch 8 isn’t all that’s arrived today, as Space Marine 2 also has some downloadable content. Both new DLC’s are availble now for Ultra Edition, Gold Edition, and Season Pass holders, and include the White Scars Chapter Pack and the Blood Angels Cosmetic Pack.
According to Focus, the former includes the “Champion skin for the Assault class; three exclusive White Scars-inspired weapon skins for the Occulus Bolt Carbine, Stalker Bolt Rifle, and Combat Knife; and a host of cosmetic options and heraldry markings for their Successor Chapters”. As for the latter, there fans can look for “three new armour pieces which may be equipped on any playable class, plus a suite of heraldry symbols and rank markings celebrating eight of the Blood Angels’ Successor Chapters.”
Both the base Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 game and both the Patch 8 update and additional DLC’s are out now for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
