Microsoft landed a brand new trailer for Gears of War Reloaded at this past weekend’s Xbox Game Showcase.
Better than ever
There’ve been quite a few greats in the lineup of classic Xbox games, though few as lofty as the original Gears of War. For that matter, the entire opening trilogy was a high-water mark for action games, delivering excellently realized cover and melee mechanics, as well as all out action against the villainous Locust.
But while Gears has always looked pretty great, even in the Xbox 360 era, it’s looking better than ever now. A new version of the original title to bear the Gears of War name will be coming up later this year, with Gears of War Reloaded, and it’s both sounding and looking every bit that new subtitle.
Long time fans and newcomers alike can expect to see “4K resolution, up to120 FPS support, and fully modernized multiplayer”, according to Microsoft. That’s not all though, as Gears of War Reloaded will also deliver cross-play and cross-progression across available platforms, which presumably will include the PC and PS5.
Here’s the latest look at the game in action:
Along with the new looks and platforms, Gears of War Reloaded will be a part of both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere. So this is one iconic adventure that’ll be as wide-reaching as they get, setting the stage for the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day. Expect Gears of War Reloaded to arrive on August 26th, though you’ll be able to dive into an Exclusive Multiplayer Beta sooner than that.
Though we don’t have details just yet, the Exclusive Multiplayer Beta will be available some time before launch (natch’), and will be open to those who pre-order Gears of War Reloaded. There’s also a little bonus for partaking, in the form of Adam Fenix and Anya Stroud Character Skins (for multiplayer).
