He’s back and ready to race. The iconic fat cat returns in Garfield Kart 2 – All You Can Drift from Eden Games.
Lasagne power-ups, we assume
Is this the year of karting? Well, probably not, though there’s a big name in the genre arriving this week, and now an announcement for another that’s set to drop this fall. As you can see from the headline, that will be a sequel to a title that released all the way back in 2013. One that starred a certain chunky tabby.
Just revealed, Garfield Kart 2 – All You Can Drift is heading to consoles and the PC via Eden Games and publisher Microids. And while there’s no full trailer yet for the title, there is a bit of initial info and a neat little teaser for you to check out.
Ready to race against a real heavyweight? Garfield, Odie, Nermal, and the whole crew are at the starting line, raring to go! Play as one of the eight cult characters from the Garfield universe, fill up your karts, customize your look, and race away at breakneck speeds.
Take a wild ride through an unhinged universe, where there’s a surprise waiting around every turn. Pirate, western, or detective: Garfield speeds through brightly colored worlds to prove that, even in his dreams, he’s the king! Use shortcuts or bonus items to change the course of races and create unforgettable moments with friends through local and online multiplayer modes
Microids press release
Aside from the above, the press release says that the likes of Garfield, Odie, Jon, and the rest of the game’s cast will all have “their own personality, making each race a unique and immersive experience.” While we’re not quite sure what that means, we do know that those characters will race across a trio of circuits.
Each will have its own theme, varying from “detective scenes”, “the pirate seas”, and “old cowboy trails”. To rock through those courses, karts can be customized with “bumpers, wheels, and spoilers, as well as style and color for a unique touch”. Also while the game will be playable solo, fans can dig into some online multiplayer for up to eight. And yes, that comes in addition to a four-player split-screen mode for some old school racing action.
Watch for Garfield Kart 2 – All You Can Drift to arrive on the Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this September 10th.
