The Division 2 enters its seventh year (and Game Pass) the the Battle for Brooklyn

Ubisoft’s long-lived, post-apocalyptic action sequel The Division 2 has a whole new battle, and heads to Game Pass.

At least you can get a good slice of pizza

You just can’t keep a good post-apocalypse down. At least that seems to be true for Ubisoft’s hit The Division 2. The 2019 live-service action game is still absolutely rolling, as players can now take their Division agents to Brooklyn, for another downloadable content expansion.

Those who buy into the new DLC will find themselves in the famed NYC borough, which had apparently been doing quite well for itself in the new age. Rising from the ashes of the pandemic (the in-game one), Brooklyn was a peaceful settlement, at least it was until the Cleaners moved in and began producing Purple Flame. Now it needs a little help, a little “Division” help. Cue the Battle for Brooklyn DLC.

The new pack is playable in both solo and co-op fashion, and also includes a 40 level boost, plus the Catalyst Exotic Mask. That little item doles out bonuses for “dealing and receiving status effect damage”, according to Ubi.

The Battle for Brooklyn DLC brings players back to New York, featuring faithfully recreated Brooklyn neighborhoods and a brand-new linear campaign. Throughout the campaign, available either solo or in co-op, players will uncover how the Cleaners have been mass-producing the dangerous Purple Flame, which threatens the fragile peace of the relatively untouched Brooklyn settlement.

The DLC comes with a 40-level boost, allowing players to dive into the campaign from day one. In addition, available as a DLC exclusive, the Catalyst Exotic Mask provides bonuses for dealing and receiving status effect damage, aiding players in combat against the Cleaners.

Ubisoft press release

The Battle for Brooklyn is out right now now for all versions of The Division 2. Outside of bundle deals, it’s also available for $14.99 USD, as a standalone purchase.

Game Pass, and a whole new season

The expansion pack isn’t the only news to report today for The Division 2. Also worthy of note is that the title has made its way to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, meaning that subscribers can download and dive in right now. There’s actually a limited-time bonus for members as well, who can download a free EMS Outfit for their Agent starting today. No information on when that freebie might end though, so if you want it, you might want to get it while the getting’s good.

On top of all of that as well, it’s also officially the seventh year of the game’s life. And for the first season of action in that new year, Ubisoft is bringing in Crossroads. A new story arc, Crossroads is meant to stir up some nostalgia for long-time players, as it offers “Modifiers and Gear reminiscent of elements from The Division”. And yes, the publisher means the first game in the set.

Here’s a bit more on that straight from Ubisoft:

In the first season of Year 7, Crossroads, Agents find themselves in a race against time as they try to retrieve a deep-cover asset in the Sokolov Concern. Crossroads will inspire nostalgia for The Division franchise fans, with Modifiers and Gear reminiscent of elements from The Division. The Global modifier “Hard-Core” contains three new Attributes, with players gaining bonuses depending on each Attribute’s score, while this season’s Passive modifiers resemble The Division’s Talents, requiring a minimum Attribute tier to activate.

This season also brings quality of life enhancements for existing players and better onboarding for new players. Season Pass XP is increased for all activities, and co-op progress will be fully incorporated into the seasonal journey.
