Return to with world of Rebellion’s Atomfall next month, for a visit to the Wicked Isle

A fresh dose of action is coming to Rebellion’s survival action title Atomfall, as an upcoming expansion pack brings players to the Wicked Isle.

Is that a head in a jar?

What’s more harrowing than braving the quarantine zone of Atomfall? Well, it might just be taking a trip to the Wicked Isle. A new expansion pack of the same name will be coming for the game in June, transporting players to a place that’s quite near the destroyed Windscale Atom Plant, called Midsummer Island.

The pack will reportedly pull from the main title’s horror elements in particular, for a setting that’s accessible via the boat-keeper. Said seaman can be found on the jetty in Wyndham Village, and he’ll stock players with their first Lead.

Once past that and onto Midsummer Island, they’ll find a place more highly infected than the mainland. Expect new foes, but also some brand new hardware to combat them with. Oh, and did we mention that this expansion can possibly alter the ending of the main questline?

Drawing on the folk horror elements of the game for inspiration, the story expansion is set on Midsummer Island. To cross to the island players must talk to the boat-keeper who can be found on the jetty in Wyndham Village. He will give you information about the island as well as your first Lead.

“Midsummer is located close to the Windscale Atom Plant and as a result the levels of infection in both the people and environment are higher than on the mainland,” explained Ben Fisher, Head of Design at Rebellion. “You are going to meet new enemy factions including pirate bandits and infected druids. To help you survive there are new weapons to be found on the island including a devastating Blunderbuss shotgun, a new bow, cutlass, daggers and the Beekeeper’s Staff. You will also be able to acquire new skills which will aid you on your quest as well as an upgraded metal detector which will enable you find even more loot caches.”

The Leads you uncover in Wicked Isle will open a variety of story treads, some of which create new potential endings for the main Atomfall game.

Rebellion press release

Wicked Isle is set for launch on June 3rd, to add onto your base copy of Atomfall for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC (via Windows, Steam, or Epic Games Store). Alternatively, the pack is included in the Deluxe Edition of the game, and can also be bought into via the Deluxe Upgrade Pack, should you have the title’s standard edition.

Those who’ve been playing via Game Pass won’t find Wicked Isle included in that version of Atomfall, but they’ll be in for a discount of a tidy 10% off, if they choose to buy it separately.
