Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City brings the team to virtual reality

Up close and personal ninjitsu? That’s what’s coming up from Cortopia Studios in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City.

Pizza time!

A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vr game? That’s right, coming out of the sewers and heading to virtual reality headsets are the mean, green, teens, and it’s courtesy of Beyond Frames Entertainment and developer Cortopia Studios, in collaboration with Paramount Game Studio. If you recognize the name Cortopia too, it might be because that’s the same team that was behind the hit vr action title Gorn 2.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City will set players up as Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello, for an adventure that the press release says is set in “the storied Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) universe.” The game is setting up to both provide “hard-hitting combat”, but also a focus on the TMNT as a family. We assume that latter note is a nod towards the story for the title, which is still something of a mystery.

Likewise in a fog is actual gameplay, which has also yet to be revealed. For those anxious to see more however, there is a little teaser, as well as some environmental screens. Fans can look for the full game to arrive for the Meta Quest and Steam VR some time in 2026, and wish-listing is open now.

Built from the ground up for virtual reality, Empire City will let players suit up as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello or Michelangelo in an action-driven adventure that’s equal parts hard-hitting combat and an exploration of the bonds of brotherhood. Comic book writer Tom Waltz, best known for his work on The Last Ronin and over 100 issues of IDW TMNT comic series, has joined the team as narrative consultant to help give Empire City the story, tone, and heart that the fans of TMNT comics have come to expect.

“As much as the Turtles are about action, their story is even more about family,” said Ace St. Germain, Beyond Frames Entertainment CEO and Creative Director on Empire City. “Their strength comes from their bond, and this is something that resonates deeply with fans. Tom Waltz is one of the best-loved minds in the TMNT creatorverse today, and his stories over the last decade have helped to shine a light on that bond. We couldn’t be more excited to have him involved in the project.”
